Welcome to the Tallangatta Tomorrow website. On this site you will be able to share and discuss your ideas, keep up to date with what's happening and find out how you can get involved in the revitalisation of your town. You will be able to contact us directly via the 'suggestions box' and discuss your ideas via the Tallangatta Tomorrow blog.
The most important part of the process is you. You will shape your towns future so get involved and lets get the conversation started.
Final Step - Let's make it happen
The final stage is ‘let's make it happen’. The masterplan for the future of Tallangatta is now complete and the next stage is to make the recommendations and initiatives happen.
Projects funded by the Towong Shire Council include the construction of the Sandy Creek Bridge, new multi - sporting clubhouse at Rowen Park and redevelopment of the Tallangatta Bowls Club are already under way, with many more progressing, however there are projects that you as the Community can implement also with ideas such as a Community Radio station, local produce market and other music and arts events being discussed regularly by the Community throughout the Tallangatta Tomorrow project, now its time for you to be a part of the future of your town and to support or possibly help make one of these Community initiatives happen.
Tallangatta Open Day - 25th February 2012
The Open Day will celebrate the final stage in the Towong Shire Councilʼs ʻTallangatta Tomorrowʼ project: Letʼs Make It Happen.
“The Tallangatta Open Day will showcase what our gorgeous town, and the wider region, has on offer. If you havenʼt been to the area for a while, this is the day to come and visit”, Cr Mary Fraser, Towong Shire Councillor said today.
The daytime celebrations will run from 9am until 4pm and will include over 40 market stalls showcasing local artists, craftspeople, food producers, and artists from Tallangatta, the wider Towong Shire Council and neighbouring regions. There will be musical entertainment, an old-fashioned tug oʼ war and hovercraft rides on the weir throughout the day.
There will also be a special kids program including an animal farm, balloon animals by Sparky the Clown, face painting and stories read aloud by local author Ian Trevaskis.
In the evening a Sports Trivia Night, hosted by leading sports journalists Tim and Samantha Lane, will be held in the Tallangatta Memorial Hall from 7:30pm to raise money for a new multi-sporting precinct for the community.
The Community Workshop Opening Success
Thankyou to everyone that attended to the official opening of the Tallangatta Tomorrow Workshop, conducted by Mayor (Cr) Peter Joyce. We had over 150 people attend either the opening or one of the Community Focus Groups, with many debates and discussions taking place between residents eager to participate in the revitalisation of their town.
